This of course was not always the case! Some were just stupid and not scary at all, but none the less, every horror book had cool/morbid covers. I thought, if the covers were terrifying then surely the story in-between was going to be even more scary. And to be honest I would pick a lot of them off the design artwork on the front and back covers. It seems like today’s popular book cover’s are just minimalist with plain neutral color backgrounds and pretty font text… BORING!Īs a kid growing up in the 90’s I loved picking up horror paperbacks at thrift stores (still do love it).

We have lost something important when it comes to the horror genre of books, in my opinion. What ever happen to the days we DID judge a book by it’s cover?
